Allen Cole, A/P*
America’s Boating Course 3rd Ed & Paddle Smart Seminar
Allen Cole has been a Power Squadron member since the late ‘90’s. He currently teaches part of the America’s Boating
course, as well as our Paddle Smart seminar.
For Allen, boating is a tremendous activity for the individual and for the family. However, he feels strongly that safety is key: “boating safely requires training and a patient attention to detail.”
An avid sailor, he has also been an active kayaker for nine years. “I paddle my 9.5-foot Perception kayak on lakes and secluded areas of the Puget Sound,” he says. “And I use my 15-foot NC Excursion for longer day-trips and overnight voyages. Safety and smart preparation are very important to me and I look forward to sharing my experiences with everyone in my class.”
Allen joined the Bellevue Squadron after buying his first boat, a trailerable sailboat. He had never boated before. Since then, like many boat owners, he has “traded up” through three more sailboats and now sails a Cal 34. He is passionate about what he teaches. “The America’s Boating Course provides the preliminary foundation for knowledgeable and safe boating, he says. ”I’m sure you’ll enjoy the class as much as I enjoy teaching it.”
*NOTE: A/P indicates someone who has achieved advanced piloting status, as a result of successfully completing all of the advanced piloting classes offered by the US Power Squadron
