Sailing, ABC Class

Dave Mowrer is the instructor for the squadron’s SAIL class and also teaches the Navigation Rules class for the ABC course. He first learned to sail in the early 1970s and was very soon teaching sailing. He has been the lead instructor for the Neptune Sailing Club in Kirkland, and since 1982 has supervised the training of hundreds of new club members.


Dave is an American Sailing Association certified sailing instructor, and periodically teaches ASA’s Basic Keelboat class, Coastal Cruising class, and Bareboat Charter class on his Catalina 30 sailboat.  He also holds a US Coast Guard 50-ton Master’s License.


In 1991, Dave retired from 35 years of teaching at Green River Community College in Auburn.
