Annual Salmon Bake

Our traditional Father’s Day Salmon Bake at Brownsville Marina is scheduled for June 14-16.  We have 10 boat slips, the covered pavilion with gas grills and the upper firepit reserved for that weekend.  Last year, we used the circular upper firepit for the salmon and it worked quite well.  The salmon was laced to wood planks as before but the planks were shorter (thanks to Mike Heinrich).

The schedule is typically "meet and greet" on Friday at 4pm in the covered pavilion with shared hors d'oeuvres.  Then breakfast on Saturday morning in the covered pavilion, followed by the salmon bake in the upper firepit Saturday evening.  Everyone should bring side dishes to share with the salmon.  After that, there has been marshmello toasting, guitar playing and singing around the fire, but that is up to the current participants.  Finally, there is usually a light breakfast on Sunday morning and everyone departs. 

Some planning is required to make this happen again this year.  To all of you who helped last year, are you willing to do the same this year?  If you are attending for the first time this year, are you willing to help with these tasks?

Tasks include getting the firewood, bringing the planks and lacing equipment, lacing the salmon, tending the fire, bringing electric skillets, coffee maker and food for breakfast on Saturday & Sunday, etc.  Also, there is the matter of coordinating who will bring what hors d’oeuvres on Friday afternoon and who will bring which side dishes for Saturday evening so everyone doesn’t bring the same thing.
