Fisher and Cathers are founding members of the Motor Lifeboat Historic Preservation Society, and present educational lectures around the United States. Cathers first got involved in restoration work through his family history in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Over the course of 7 years, Glen studied original construction techniques, collected and purchased original fittings and fixtures, and painstakingly restored the CG36391. She now has parts from 13 different “TR”-type motor lifeboats on her, and is the only fully restored, operational example of this pre-World War II rescue boat type.
